What is Venice Sea Lab ?
Venice Sea Lab brings together interdisciplinary research, industry partnerships, and hands-on training focused on coastal environments, marine sustainability, and smart maritime systems. The centre of excellence connects students to laboratories, field campaigns, and a network of researchers working on realistic, societally relevant problems in the unique lagoon and coastal contexts of Venice.
Two English-taught master’s programmes to boost your impact:

- Renewable Energy Engineering in Coastal Environment
- Focus: design, modelling, and deployment of renewable energy systems in coastal and marine settings (offshore wind, wave and tidal energy, hybrid coastal systems).
- Research links: run in collaboration with ISMAR (Institute for Marine Sciences) and the CNR (National Research Council), giving students direct access to institutional research projects, marine monitoring datasets, and experimental campaigns.
- Sustainable Transportation and Smart Maritime Mobility
- Focus: sustainable design and operation of maritime transport, multimodal integration, digitalisation, and mobility solutions for ports, coastal cities, and shipping.
- Faculty excellence: course coordinator Silvio Nocera and lecturer Federico Cavallaro are listed among the top 2% most-cited authors in their fields (Stanford/Elsevier ranking), reflecting high-impact research and strong academic leadership.
