Transistor- A Sci-fi RPG

Transistor is an upcoming science fiction role playing game expected to be released on 20th May, 2014 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4 with the possibility of releases on other platforms in the future. This action packed game has been developed by Supergiant Games, the creators of the hit title Bastion. The game and its soundtrack are available for pre-order and it is said to feature English voice-over with text in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese.

Storyline

Transistor

The game is based on a woman named Red, a famous singer in the city of Cloudbank. She gets attacked by a group of robotic assailants which are commanded by the group Camerata. During the conflict, she gets transported and comes in the possession of the mysterious great sword, Transistor, which is imbedded in the chest of a man who was close to Red. Now Red has to fight the robotic forces to keep Transistor secure as the forces against her will stop at nothing to regain the blade.  The players will embark on the adventure of uncovering the mysteries of the Transistor through its former owners.

Gameplay

Transistor Gameplay

The single player action-themed Transistor is not quite dissimilar from the developer’s previous success, Bastion. The gameplay is based on real time fighting as well as planning based fighting mode. The turn based part of the game is the integral part of battles. The option to pause and plan the set of combos and movements the player wants to carry out with super speed is quite unique for a role playing game. But for the planning mode you need to have your action bar filled. Experience points after battles and the chance of improving learned skills gained from the enemy robots are essentials for this game. Furthermore the Recursion mode of the game will allow the player to retain his abilities and score and fight a mixed variety of enemies. The Recursion mode is enabled once the player has completed Transistor’s story. The second run of the game will feature a different mix of enemies as explained by the creative director of Supergiant Games, Greg Kasavin. A voice from inside the Transistor, portrayed by Bastion narrator Logan Cunningham, guides the player through the game.
