The world of animation and video games is not child’s play, but a real industry looking for trained professionals all over the world. At the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) prepares students to enter this work force right after graduation.
The program, created by the UIW’s 3D Animation & Game Design Department, is taught by highly qualified professors and instructors who are well trained and active in the industry. They are out and about within the industry constantly taking the pulse of the dynamic market and investigating new options for students and graduates. The work of our professors can be seen in movies and games around the world.
Truth be told, this program is not for everybody. Only true passionate students, who are ready to give it all to follow their dreams, will fit this program. Taking into account how competitive the market is these days, we have created an aggressive program with hard training and demanding classes, aiming to push our students to put out all of their potential, explore new areas and make their outlook broad and their skills sharp. At UIW you will work very hard, but you’ll have fun doing it!
The program’s structure
The UIW’s proposal offers four concentrations: Animation, Modeling, Programming & Production Management.
ANIMATION
Including Animation for Games, Stop Motion for Animators and Rigging, in order to learn about the link between the storyline, performance of the characters as well as their movements and mechanics.
MODELING
Subjects such as Character Modeling and Environmental Production help students to discover character creation, and also how to develop the worlds and platforms on which they will live.
PROGRAMMING
Programming for Games, to learn the founding elements of every video game, emphasizing scripting and programming for contemporary game engines.
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
Not only to animate and design but also to manage the process of any production, that is what our students learn in the Production Management Concentration.
