Located in Kaunas, Lithuania\u2019s second-largest city, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is a perfect choice for technologically-minded future professionals. \u201cI didn\u2019t choose Kaunas. In a way, I\u2019d say Kaunas chose me,\u201d says Maria Rosa Rojas Noguera from Venezuela, who is studying for a master\u2019s degree in medical physics<\/a> at KTU.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


KTU offers its international applicants a unique range of programmes<\/a> in engineering, natural sciences, humanities, health sciences, arts, social sciences and business at all levels of study. You can choose from more than 50 bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s programmes and 19 doctoral programmes taught in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KTU\u2019s international students, who make up more than 15% of the student body, come from 71 countries and contribute to a global and vibrant community. The University continually invests in the well-being of its students by improving their study environment<\/a>, providing opportunities to participate in sports, arts societies and student associations, and helping them to build their confidence. Some of these have been founded by international students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin Gomez, an Ecuadorian student studying bachelor\u2019s of Intelligent Robotics Systems<\/a> at KTU, founded Formula Student Lithuania – a dynamic race-qualifying team. It has recently been officially recognised as an official KTU student organisation.
\u201cThe idea to start a racing team came up a year ago after I participated in Formula Student EAST in Hungary \u2013 a global competition where universities form teams to build fully functional Formula Student cars<\/em>,\u201d says Martin.
He remembers hearing about KTU from his high school friend, who was excited about Lithuania because it was small, clean and very affordable to live in.
\u201cWe found out that it has cutting-edge technologies and that Lithuania is the country with the fastest internet in the world<\/em>,\u201d says Martin, talking about his first impressions of Lithuania from afar.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n


Kaunas is a real university town \u2013 according to official statistics, almost 40,000 students were studying in Kaunas in 2023. In 2025, it was ranked as one of the best student cities in the world<\/a>. International students appreciate Kaunas for its safety, cleanliness and greenery. The city is considered to be the perfect size for a student city \u2013 you can easily get from one end to the other within half an hour, public transport is perfect and cheap. Situated in the centre of Lithuania, Kaunas has excellent transport links both within the country and with the rest of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Interested in studying at KTU? All international applicants to KTU are eligible for a full or partial tuition fee waiver<\/a>, depending on their entry score. In addition, all EU citizens can apply for a state-funded study place<\/a>. Also, there are many other sources of financial support available to you once you become a KTU student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
